Study
At undergraduate level, the school has a common entry for its Information Technology and Cyber Security B.Sc. (Hons) programmes. Students study a broad range of computing modules for the first two years and specialise in Information Technology (TU860) or Cyber Security (TU863) in years 3 and 4 of their studies. The school has a long history of developing graduate students in Information Technology and Cyber Security, with sought-after industry-relevant skillsets. The school is located at the heart of “Ireland’s Silicon Valley”, so it is no surprise that our graduates find employment in some of the world’s top tech companies such as, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Symantec, Integrity 365 and many other regional SMEs.
We live in an increasingly connected world and the school has a strong track record of producing graduates with specific computer networking and infrastructure skills that underpin our financial systems, digital markets, medical systems and enable our digital devices to stay connected in an information-hungry world. We pride ourselves on being Ireland’s only Cisco Networking Academy and have been ranked in the global top 15% of Cisco academy partners achieving premier status. Students studying computer networking modules on our undergraduate programmes have the choice to take industry-recognised Cisco-certified exams that are closely linked to our module content. For prospective students who wish to focus solely on computer networking and infrastructure we also offer a Learn and Work programme in Networking Technologies (TU655). This programme takes a fresh approach to the apprenticeship model of education and gives students the opportunity to work with companies such as Vodafone, Eir, Viatel, Microsoft and Citrix while studying networking technologies at higher certificate level (level 6).
