School of Computer Science Project Fair 2026
School of Computer Science Hosts Annual Project Fair for its Final Year Students

The School of Computer Science welcomed industry partners, academic staff and invited guests to the Central Quad at TU Dublin's Grangegorman campus on Tuesday 22 April 2026 for the annual 4th Year Project Fair, a showcase of the innovation, creativity and real-world engagement that define the TU Dublin student experience.
Final-year students from across the school's core undergraduate programmes TU856 BSc. in Computer Science (F/T), TU857 BSc. in Computer Science (Infrastructure) (F/T) and TU858 BSc. in Computer Science (International) (F/T) presented their Final Year Projects to the public as part of the School's Annual Event. This event is the culmination of four years of learning and a year of independent research and development work where students showcase their work to an audience of industry professionals, academics and peers. Projects spanned artificial intelligence and data science, cybersecurity, software development and user-centred design, with many shaped by real-world problems and emerging technological trends. The work on display reflected not only strong technical ability, but also the independent problem-solving, initiative and professionalism that TU Dublin's applied learning environment is designed to foster.
Following a morning and afternoon of exhibition and judging, an awards ceremony recognised outstanding achievement across eleven categories. Prizes were presented by both industry sponsors and members of the school's academic community.

Dr Deirdre Lillis, President of TU Dublin, opened proceedings and congratulated all of the students taking part and spoke to the significance of the Project Fair as a bridge between academic achievement and professional life.
Dr Lillis acknowledged her background as a former Computer Science student and her foundational role in establishing the Project Fair itself over a decade ago as the former Head of the School of Computer at TU Dublin.
"The projects presented today reflect the diverse breadth and dynamic nature of the cutting edge of the computer science disciplines. Our students have engaged with real-world challenges and developed solutions that are both technically rigorous and socially relevant. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, resilience and ambition, and to the supportive, practice led learning environment that is the cornerstone of everything we do here at TU Dublin."
Dr Brian Keegan Head of the School Computer Science also took the opportunity to acknowledge the School's industry partners. "We extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors Ocuco, BearingPoint, SAP, Fidelity Investments and DOCOSoft whose continued engagement with our students and generous support for these awards makes an occasion like this possible."

Ten Years of Co-Design Partnership

This year's Project Fair marked a significant milestone for the School of Computer Science with the 10th anniversary of its Co-Design Partnership with St John of God Community Services Liffey. Now one of the most distinctive and enduring features of the school's undergraduate experience, the partnership brings together TU Dublin students and co-designers with lived experience of intellectual disability to develop technology solutions that are genuinely inclusive, practical, and shaped by the people they are designed to serve.
This year, six student teams delivered innovative projects grounded in the principles of inclusive design and participatory development. The projects were:
Co-Design App - enabling greater participation and ownership in planning and decision-making during co-design projects
FriendSnap App - exploring ways to support social connection and relationship-building within safe and accessible boundaries
Music App - celebrating creativity, self-expression and engagement through an accessible digital keyboard
Money App - supporting financial understanding and greater independence in everyday life
Mental Health App - centred on emotional wellbeing, offering accessible ways to understand and express feelings
Brians Travel Stuff - supporting independent travel through practical, accessible digital tools
Across all six projects, student teams worked directly with co-designers throughout the development process, testing, refining and reshaping their ideas through continuous feedback. This approach reinforced the centrality of plain language, visual supports, and user-led design in building technology that truly works for its intended audience.
Closing Remarks

The 4th Year Project Fair remains one of the most important occasions in the School of Computer Science calendar and is a moment that brings together graduating students, their supervisors, and the professional community to celebrate the full arc of a degree.
