Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment & Apprenticeships at TU Dublin.
Ours is a truly unique faculty—one that spans the full spectrum of learning, from craft apprenticeships to doctoral research. This breadth is not only distinctive in Irish higher education, but it also reflects our deep commitment to supporting learners at every stage of their educational and professional journey.
Across five schools, our 180+ programmes offer rich, career-focused pathways that combine academic excellence with practical, real-world skills. Whether you’re beginning your career through an apprenticeship, pursuing a degree, or undertaking advanced research, you’ll find a learning environment that is collaborative, ambitious, and connected to industry and society.
We live in a world facing profound change—climate, sustainability, digital transformation—and our faculty is positioned at the heart of these challenges. Through innovation in teaching, impactful interdisciplinary research, and close engagement with external partners, we aim to equip our students with the knowledge, adaptability, and professional confidence to thrive in a complex and fast-moving world.
Our community of staff and students is what makes this faculty exceptional. I’m proud of the work our colleagues do every day—advancing knowledge, solving problems, and shaping the future of engineering and the built environment.
I invite you to explore what we offer, and to consider joining us—whether as a student, researcher, collaborator, or partner—as we shape the future together.
Best wishes,
Dr. Paul Doyle
