NZEB IRELAND: RAPID HOUSING CONFERENCE 2018

The Dublin School of Architecture, DIT Bolton Street is proud to host the Passive House Association of Ireland (PHAI) NZEB Ireland 'Rapid Housing' conference on Friday 25 May 2018

NZEB IRELAND

nZEB Ireland has been established to help Ireland to successfully meet the nearly zero energy building (nZEB) standard for new buildings and major renovations, as set out in Directive 2010/31/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 May 2010 on the energy performance of buildings.

nZEB Ireland will seek to engage with all stakeholders affected by nZEB including the state, the construction and property industries and the general public to help Ireland to deliver robust, cost-effective, healthy, comfortable nZEBs that perform as expected. nZEB Ireland will aim to help Ireland to implement and exceed EU requirements & recommendations regarding nZEB in terms of timing and performance.

RAPID HOUSING

Ireland remains in the grip of a national housing crisis, with increasing demand for housing units across the country, which need to be delivered at a higher pace. The need for rapid-build is happening at a time when the nearly Zero Energy Building standard (nZEB) is about to become mandatory in Ireland. We need to deliver not just ‘quantity’ therefore, but also ‘quality’ to ensure that we meet our commitments on energy efficiency.

For this reason, the new-formed organisation nZEB Ireland decided to plan a national Rapid Build Conference for May 25th at Dublin Institute of Technology, in the heart of Dublin city, where the housing crisis is perhaps most critical.

The conference will feature several case studies of rapid build high-performance housing as well as three international presenters who will showcase best-practice for both new-build as well as retrofit, and an impressive exhibition floor showcasing the very latest in rapid-build solutions and technologies.
