COVID-19: Awareness and Preparedness

TU Dublin is closely following the advice of the HSE in relation to containing the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus. This virus can cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe respiratory illness.

Public Health information is being updated on a regular basis, and the University is monitoring the situation.  Updates will continue to be sent by email to all staff and students, so please continue to check your @tudublin.ie email account to make sure you are aware of the most recent public health advice or visit the dedicated COVID-19 webpage

If you are a TU Dublin student

If you are a student on any TU Dublin campus, you will receive updated information by email regularly.  This information is informed by the public health information provided by the HSE and the Department of Health.  If you feel unwell and believe you may have had exposure to the COVID-19 virus, please contact the Student Health Centre on your campus for advice on what to do next.  You can find details of our Student Health Centres here.

If you are a TU Dublin staff member

If you are a member of staff on any TU Dublin campus, you will also receive updated information by email on a regular basis.  This information is informed by the public health information provided by the HSE and the Department of Health.  If you feel unwell and believe you may have been in contact with the COVID-19 virus, you should contact your GP by phone and follow their advice on what to do next.

Help to prevent the spread of COVID-19

To help prevent the spread of the virus in Ireland, everyone is asked to observe the ‘Cover-Up’ coughing and sneezing etiquette, and to remember to thoroughly and regularly wash your hands.  You can find the latest updated information from the HSE, including detailed Frequently Asked Questions  at https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/

Symptoms of COVID-19 infection can include any of the following:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing

If you have had exposure to contact with the virus and have any of these symptoms, please isolate yourself from others and make contact with your Student Health Centre or your GP.  Do not attend in person.

If the medical advice is to isolate yourself, please follow this advice by limiting social interactions as far as possible and remain contactable by phone by the Department of Public Health.  Please note: other members of your household who have not had direct exposure to the infection do not need to restrict their activities.
