Emergency Quick Reference

If you encounter an emergency situation:
i. Stay safe
ii. Dial 999/112; advise emergency services
iii. Dial 01 220 7615/6; advise TU Dublin Security or advise a member of staff

Fire Explosion Flood
  • Activate Alarm
  • Call 112/999
  • Evacuate and leave area using the nearest safe exit
  • Do not use lifts
  • Stay low to avoid smoke
  • Help persons with mobility issues if safe to do so
  • Go to the designated Assembly Point and wait for further instructions. 
  • Report any issues to Incident Controller/Emergency Services regarding people still in the building
  • Drop and Cover
  • Take shelter under sturdy furniture or lie flat.
  • Evacuate if safe to do so.
  • Avoid hazards and watch for falling debris and fires
  • Call 112/999
  • Notify campus security of injuries or hazards.
  • Do not enter flooded areas
  • Turn off water and electricity if safe and trained.
  • Notify Campus Security
  • Evacuate, move to higher floors or dry areas
  • Complete incident form
Electrical Emergency Hazardous Material Spill Bomb Threat 
  • Don’t Touch: Stay clear of exposed wires or equipment
  • Turn off the power if trained and it’s safe
  • Isolate Area: Keep people away from the hazard
  • Contact campus security
  • Allow professionals to handle electrical repairs
  • Clear Area: Evacuate the affected zone
  • Close Doors: Contain the area if possible
  • Avoid Contact: Do not attempt cleanup unless trained
  • Call: Notify security and laboratory/school/function management
  • Decontaminate: Follow procedures for that laboratory/agent
  • Stay Calm: Keep the environment calm
  • Record: Note details (e.g. caller ID, gender, accent, exact wording)
  • Alert Authorities: Call 112/999 and inform campus security
  • Evacuate: Only leave if instructed by authorities
  • Do Not Touch: Avoid any suspicious packages.

Armed/Violent Individual(s)

  • Evacuate if a safe route is available
  • Hide: Lock and barricade yourself in a room; stay away from windows
  • Defend: Avoid contact with attacker; as a last resort, defend yourself
  • Call 112/999: When safe, report the situation
  • Wait with mobile phones on silent but accessible for updates
  • Monitor university communication channels (email, website, social media)
