Jean Noonan is an Assistant Lecturer teaching subjects across eCommerce, retail, entrepreneurship, and fashion sustainability at the School of Business Technology, Retail, and Supply Chain at TU Dublin. Jean's teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a focus on enhancing the student's learning experience through authentic assessment design and experiential learning. She integrates practical enterprise challenges in collaboration with industry partners and social enterprises, ensuring students gain real-world insights. Jean has completed CPD in Educating for Sustainability, enhancing her understanding of sustainability pedagogy and building cross-disciplinary collaborations. She holds a Masters in Fashion Buying and Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainability Leadership in Business, where she worked on a research consultancy project with Ireland’s first B Corp fashion brand. Additionally, she has facilitated and participated in Climate Fresk workshops, embedding climate literacy into her teaching practice.

Jean’s experience includes mentoring at initiatives such as the TU Dublin President’s Sustainability Innovation Challenge, including the Fast Fashion Hackathon. She also participated in an Erasmus+ Staff Mobility programme, where she taught sustainability and innovation in the fashion industry. This international engagement enhanced her teaching practice and broadened her perspective on global sustainability challenges. Her research adopts a practice-based and interdisciplinary approach, focusing on sustainable fashion and innovative business models. She has led cross-disciplinary projects that unite students and staff in collaboration with social enterprises, exploring sustainable fashion and visual merchandising.

Beyond the classroom, Jean actively contributes to research and professional communities. She serves on the advisory board member of Digital Business Ireland, contributing to discussions on digital commerce and education. She has judged the Digital Business Ireland National Digital Awards, recognising excellence in the digital sector. Jean has also volunteered with PEPY Empowering Youth in Cambodia, delivering classes on the creative wellbeing economy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and sharing strategies for sustainable and digital literacy with educators. Her work bridges theory and practice, aiming to influence policy, inform teaching, and drive transformation in both industry and society.
