Dr. Joseph Mohan obtained a PhD in adhesively bonded carbon-fibre polymer composites from University College Dublin in 2010 and subsequently worked as a Research Fellow at the Irish Centre for Composites Research (IComp). After moving to industry, he led a diverse portfolio of R&D projects across multiple sectors, developing and commercialising novel metal coatings for space, aerospace, and automotive applications. He joined CREST in 2019 and currently works on a wide range of industrial and research projects, including the DTIF-funded AD ASTRA Project (Grant #DT20220397) in collaboration with Éirecomposites and Plasma Bound.
Dr. Mohan work spans adhesion of medical device coatings, erosion protection of wind turbine blades, and the development of advanced coatings for 3D-printed components. He is an experienced Principal Investigator with expertise in composite materials, adhesive joints, and surface treatments/coatings; has extensive experience in mechanical testing and surface characterisation; manages large-scale industrial and academic collaborations; and brings significant industrial expertise in the space, aerospace, automotive, and medical device sectors.
