Research
The research centre will add value to the university and its remits by demonstrating its alignment with the ‘Information,-Communications-&-Media-Technologies’ research area of TUDublin and with “people”, one of its pillars of the Strategic-intent-2030, fostering individual talents in an ever-changing world. Through its research initiatives, the centre will support the development of relevant skill sets in graduates and postgraduate programmes on eXplainable AI to achieve the critical mass to meet the strategic needs of the enterprise and research communities, including developing postgraduate training programmes addressing relevant skills gaps. It will contribute to establishing a leadership position for TU Dublin in eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (xAI) by influencing the development of international standards and regulations for designing AI-based technologies that are transparent, responsible, interpretable, trustworthy and explainable. This proposal is the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland.
The centre will be highly inter/multi/trans-disciplinary, and through extensive collaboration with the other newly established research centres within TU Dublin, it will support Ireland’s Research and Innovation strategy. Leveraging these forms of disciplinarity and via extensive collaboration with other research initiatives across faculties and schools, the centre's main objective is to encourage its scholars to generate a stimulating research environment, linking experienced researchers and new scholars.
