Dublin Northwest Partnership
Organisation type: Charity
Overall interests and goals with respect to research:
Dublin Northwest Partnership (DNP) works together with the communities of Finglas, Ballymun, Cabra, Whitehall, Glasnevin, Drumcondra and Phibsborough to advance the health and economic well-being of local people, especially those experiencing disadvantage and inequity. Our focus areas are empowering people financially; supporting their well-being, environment and communities; and partnering with people and organisations to make this happen.
What societal groups does the organisation aim to positively affect and support through collaborative research?
All people experiencing disadvantage in our catchment communities of Finglas, Ballymun, Cabra, Whitehall, Glasnevin, Drumcondra and Phibsborough.
How might engaging in collaborative research with TU Dublin support these groups in the longer term?
- Help us co-design programmes with people who have lived experience of the challenge that the programme addresses. These could include supporting people through key transitions in life (e.g. starting work, education transitions); supporting young people through relevant communication; and increasing wellness for people experiencing social isolation through music and arts activities.
- Enhance the communities where we work by measuring the effectiveness of building on people’s strengths rather than focusing on weaknesses or needs.
- Minimise the impact of food poverty and insecurity in Dublin northwest communities.
- Enhance our buildings and physical environment to create empowering spaces.
Jo Toomey, Acting Education and Wellness Programmes Manager.
