This course was designed after extensive consultation for hospital staff working in RIMD units and also staff working in relevant medical supply companies. This program will provide the scientific background behind and practical skills required for the successful decontamination of RIMDs (reusable invasive medical devices).

This course is designed for staff working in the RIMD decontamination areas of hospitals or related sectors.

TU5262 Certificate in Microbiology is a pre requisite for this course.

The course consists of online lectures and practical workshops (practical work 2-3 days towards the end of semester) which are carried out in TU Dublin Tallaght. Decontamination Minor award runs in the Spring semester.

Participants on this program are typically employed in the hospital or related sector. On successful completion of this Minor Award candidates may progress to complete the major award program BSc in Decontamination Management.
