Global Health Promotion - TU Dublin at the 2025 IHPC Conference
The 2025 International Health Promoting Campuses (IHPC) Conference, held from 16–19 June at the University of Limerick, marked a significant milestone, the 10th anniversary of the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges.
This year’s conference theme 'A decade since the Okanagan Charter… Where from, what next, where to? Recent advances and future perspectives in health promoting campuses' embraced celebration, reflection, and action, honouring a decade of progress while laying the foundation for the next era of innovation, collaboration, and impact in health promotion within higher education.
Drawing delegates from institutions across the globe, the conference featured a dynamic programme of plenary keynotes, interactive workshops, and thematic breakout sessions, fostering rich dialogue and knowledge exchange among researchers, educators, and policy leaders. TU Dublin was proud to be represented by Healthy Campus Project Manager Dr Teresa Hurley, who presented on the University's ongoing commitment to the Healthy Campus initiative. Her session showcased TU Dublin's integrated approach to fostering student and staff health and wellbeing and highlighted collaborative projects that align with the Charter’s core values.
The conference culminated in a major achievement for the global health promotion community, the finalisation and endorsement of the Limerick Framework for Action. This new guiding document builds upon the foundations of the Okanagan Charter and provides a forward-looking roadmap for advancing health-promoting practices across third-level institutions worldwide.
As the IHPCN moves into its second decade, the Limerick Framework sets a bold and strategic course, one that TU Dublin is proud to support and shape as a leader in health promotion and wellbeing in higher education.
