Academics and researchers who are interested in the arts, spatial practice and sustainability, are invited to register their interest in an emerging Arts, Spatial Practice and Sustainability* research group at TU Dublin, to be formed within the Culture and Society Research Hub.
A gathering is planned towards the end of May 2026 to progress the formation of the new research group.

Glenn Loughran, School of Art and Design, and Emma Geoghegan and Sarah O'Dwyer, School of Architecture and Built Environment were invited to present at an SDSN Ireland Arts and Sustainability event in January. This event has acted as a catalyst to the formation of the new research group at TU Dublin.
Olivia Freeman, Sustainability Education Lead, Faculty Arts Humanities and Social Sciences and Helena Fitzgerald, Head of Societal Engagement, both of the Sustainability team, are supporting mobilisation around this initiative and represent TU Dublin on SDSN Ireland Working Groups.
Once formed, the Arts, Spatial Practice and Sustainability* research group can connect to the all-island Arts and Sustainability Working Group formed as part of Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) IrelandSDSN Ireland is linked to the global UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network

Initial framing questions for the SDSN Ireland Arts and Sustainability Working Group were posed at their first meeting by Chair, Professor Michael Alcorn of Queen's University Belfast. These questions can help initiate a discussion within TU Dublin about the scope and activity of the research group proposed.
