National Biodiversity Week at TU Dublin: Community Gardens for Biodiversity
Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) will celebrate National Biodiversity Week with a hands-on community event at its GLAS Community Garden in Blanchardstown on Friday, 22 May 2026 from 2pm to 4pm. Organised by Global Action Plan Ireland, the “Community Gardens for Biodiversity,” workshop invites participants to explore practical ways to support wildlife and ecosystems through gardening.
Part of a nationwide programme of events celebrating nature, the workshop will offer practical tips from expert gardeners and encourage participants to take simple actions to support biodiversity at home.
Located on the university’s Blanchardstown campus, the GLAS garden is a collaborative initiative between TU Dublin, Global Action Plan Ireland, and Fingal County Council. The half-acre site serves as an inclusive space where students, staff, and the local community come together to learn about sustainability, food growing, and biodiversity.
The Biodiversity Week event reflects TU Dublin’s wider commitment to sustainability and civic engagement. Through initiatives like GLAS, the university provides a “living classroom” that connects education with real-world environmental action while strengthening links with local communities.
By hosting events like this, TU Dublin continues to play a leading role in promoting environmental awareness and community collaboration—helping to grow a more sustainable future both on campus and beyond.
