No Mow May 2026
TU Dublin's campus environment has sprung to life with the buzzing insects, chirping birds and blooming flora that comes with the summer season.
Supporting biodiversity and protecting our campus environment is an integral part of TU Dublin's Sustainability Strategy and Climate Action Roadmap.
TU Dublin Estates Department manage five large campus locations covering Circa 160 Acres. These campus locations are maintained with a focus on promoting local indigenous flora and Fauna. TU Dublin avoid the use of fertilisers to encourage natural indigenous species propagation. In our locations, there is a ban on the use of glyphosate, and manual weed removal or natural products are used in its place.
Schools within the wider TU Dublin campuses utilise our campuses for teaching purposes and local primary schools at Grangegorman use space on campus to deliver a forest school for young students. The community garden at our Blanchardstown campus is organised through staff volunteerism and support from Fingal County Council. A further project at Tallaght hopes to replicate this garden initiative to provide facilities for staff and local residents in the areas around our campus.
TU Dublin encourages longer growing periods over summer months to allow meadows to develop on our campuses. Starting from May, grass and flower species are allowed grow to support biodiversity and the All Ireland Pollinator Plan's No Mow May campaign.
Highlighted in pink on map below are areas of the Grangegorman campus which will be maintained during May and throughout the summer, as required for public amenity, for maintenance, and to promote clover growth. All other grassy areas of the Grangegorman campus will be allowed to grow and a 1-to-2-meter mowed edging with be maintained along roads, paths and walkways.

TU Dublin students, staff, and members of our local community are encouraged to explore our campuses during the summer season and enjoy the diverse natural landscapes that make our campuses unique. Share using #TUDublinSustainability on social media.
