Pharmaceutical Science and Marketing Students Collaborate for Green Hackathon at TU Dublin
As part of TU Dublin Green week, students from Pharmaceutical Science & Marketing Management came together for the annual 'Green Dragon Hackathon - Green Solution Ideation and Pitching Competition'.
Held on 4 March on the Tallaght campus, 49 students from Year 2 Pharmaceutical Science (TU876) and Year 1 Marketing Management (TU923) worked together to brainstorm ideas to positively impact on global sustainability challenges.
The workshop was facilitated and supported by Gavan Cleary from TU Dublin's Growth Hub. Two external professionals participated as judges Gabriela de Paula from Canopy Creative and Kate Johnston from Dundalk Institute of Technology.
Teams were comprised of four to five students, with 11 teams in total collaborating on their 'Dragons Den' style pitch. The four-hour workshop brought students and staff together in rich, engaging conversations while adding an element of fun by exploring ideas through Lego. The pitches demonstrated the high level of collaboration and teamwork.
Pharmaceutical Science Lecturer Adrienne Fleming pointed out 'Similar to last year, we're noticing a trend in some cases where students who are less in engaged in class demonstrated strong skills and knowledge during these workshops .We were delighted with this success and look forward to building on it again next year.'
