TU Dublin to host Sustainability theme at Dublin Book Festival
TU Dublin is partnering with the Dublin Book Festival and Green Foundation Ireland to host leading Irish authors on sustainability. Taking place on the Grangegorman campus on Wednesday 05 November 2025, the day features a range of events with authors whose writing explores sustainable development themes with depth, clarity and actionable insight. Tickets for the public talks will be made available to the TU Dublin community a week in advance of release to the general public. Events are free but early booking is advised as Dublin Book Festival events generally book out quickly.
Authors include John Gibbons (Lie of the Land); Fintan Drury (Catastrophe: Nakba 2); Anja Murray (Frog Routes, Polka-Dot Newts and Other Treasures of Irish Nature) with Éanna Ní Lamhna (Wild Dublin); and Randall Plunkett (Wild Child) with Catherine Cleary (The Hare’s Corner).
Dr Olivia Freeman, Sustainability Education Lead, welcomed the new collaboration. “We would encourage academic staff to bring class groups to the talks and incorporate it into their discussions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is a wonderful opportunity for staff and students to hear from the leading thought-leaders on biodiversity, nature restoration, land use and global conflict.”
There will also be a primary schools event in the morning with the author Lucy Taylor and illustrator Linda Fahrlin of The Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Irish Seashore, which will be attended by schools linked to the TU Dublin Access and Outreach programme.
This is the first year of the partnership which it is hoped will grow and develop. The links to book tickets can be found below. There are more details including times and of the events here.
