Exploring the AI Fluency ‘4 D’ Framework and its application within the disciplines
How do Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence skills promote ethical and responsible use of GenAI in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment? How do these skills facilitate a pedagogical and discipline-grounded approach?
Invitation
The Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) team at TU Dublin, in partnership with the GenAI N3 Network, is pleased to invite staff across universities to join us for this hybrid GenAI for Teaching and Learning session with Prof. Joseph Feller (UCC), who is a co‑author of the AI Fluency ‘4 D’ Framework and a recognised expert in its implementation in Higher Education.
The session will take place on Tuesday, 3rd November 2026, at 10:00 am in the Academic Hub, in Grangegorman, for Prof. Feller's presentation and workshop at 11.15 am.
People registered can join the session online.
Session Outline
The AI Fluency ‘4 D’ Framework supports academic staff to combine critical insight with practical skill-building for ethical, responsible use of GenAI in teaching, learning, and assessment. The webinar will demonstrate the foundations of the model and how to apply the 4D Framework to enrich curriculum design, create diverse learning materials, and develop more authentic, future-ready assessments.
In this session, we will explore:
- Why do Delegation, Description, Discernment, and Diligence skills matter for an ethical and responsible use of GenAI in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment?
- How can these skills be applied in different disciplines?
- How to empower academic staff to model thoughtful, transparent AI collaboration, equipping your students with the mindset and capabilities they need to thrive in an AI-enabled world?
This session is for educators seeking to move beyond reactive responses to AI and towards intentional, pedagogical, and discipline-grounded integration.
Participants attending in person are invited to stay and participate in the practical one-hour workshop for ‘Exploring the AI Fluency ‘4 D’ Framework: how to design authentic assessments and learning activities that incorporate responsible and effective AI collaboration.
