Dr Julie Maisel has lectured in flute performance at the TU Dublin Conservatoire since 2005.
She received her Doctorate of Music and Master of Music in Performance from Florida State University, and her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to lecturing in flute, she serves as the MMus Programme Chair and is the Erasmus Academic Exchange Coordinator for the TU Dublin Conservatoire.
An active soloist and chamber musician, Maisel has performed in London, Sweden and throughout Ireland, and the US and has worked with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the Pro Arte Orchestra, the Opera Theatre Company, the Irish Film Orchestra, the Dublin Sound Lab, and the Irish Baroque Orchestra. She has performed at St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London), the NCH John Field Room, Kaleidoscope Music Series, Castleknock Music Festival, Castletown Music Series, and the Lunchtime Concerts in Hugh Lane Gallery. She has also performed in the 2013, 2018, 2020, and 2025 National Flute Association Conventions.
Committed to music education and professional development, Dr Maisel has facilitated the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland Audition Training Workshops and served as an adjudicator for competitions including the Yamaha Winds and Brass Scholarship Finals, Castleknock Music Festival, Wesley College Interschools Music Festival, and British Flute Society Competitions.
She served as Chair of the Gala Awards Reception for the National Flute Association, is a member of the British Flute Society Council, and a Board Member and Assistant Secretary for The Flutopia Initiative. Dr Maisel also founded and is Director of the Flute Ensemble, Clarion Winds, who performed in the 2020 and 2025 National Flute Conventions.
Her published output can be found in professional journals such as, Flute Talk and Flutist’s Quarterly. In 2018, she released her debut CD, Flute Music of Luigi Zaninelli.
