TU Dublin School of Computer Science (city campus) has successfully validated a new Double Degree programme with the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering at Mälardalen University (MDH), Sweden

Successful graduates of this new programme will be eligible for a Bachelor award from both Universities. The new programme offers students a fantastic opportunity for students to spend their third year on exchange in Sweden not only continuing their computer science studies but also experiencing Swedish culture and developing their broader global life-long skills.

The School of Innovation, Design and Engineering is one of four schools at Mälardalen University, which conducts leading research in Sweden in Embedded and Real-time Systems, and Software Engineering. The School has extensive cooperation with other universities and research centres world-wide as well as with leading international high-tech companies such as ABB, Volvo, Ericsson, and Bombardier.

The Double Degree validation is a continuation of ongoing collaboration between the two Universities dating back to 2017 and the start of the HUBLinked project lead by TU Dublin. Researchers from Mälardalen University would go on to join TU Dublin in the ongoing Ethics4EU project.

Researchers from both Universities (L-R) Yannis Stavrakakis (TU Dublin) Damir Isovic (MDH) and Radu Dobrin (MDH ) have previously collaborated together on European projects including HUBLinked and Ethics4EU.

Dr. Michael Collins, Lecturer and International Academic Coordinator in the School of Computer Science at TU Dublin (city campus), led the development of this new Double Degree with MDH.

“We are very happy to welcome Mälardalen University to the School of Computer Science as a new Double Degree partner. We have collaborated together in other projects for several years and this partnership has grown strongly during that time. This new Double Degree has been in development for nearly 2 years and will offer an exciting new opportunity to our students wishing to spend their third year on study exchange in Sweden. Our School now offers five Double Degree programme paths to our students and we continue to develop our International profile."

The programme is expected to commence in September 2021. This new Double Degree with Mälardalen University joins the School’s suite of existing Double Degree programmes with other university partners in Finland, Germany and Korea.
