XR Research Seminar

  • Human Factors and User Experience in XR
  • XR for Creative Practice

In 2023, AR, VR and XR researchers in the School of Computer Science collaborated with SFI Centre for Research Training in Digitally-Enhanced Reality and Dublin-based universities to coordinate a series of seminars. The idea behind it is to get researchers together to share their work and discuss future potential collaborations. On 8th September 2023, a seminar on "Human Factors and User Experience in XR" was held in Central Quad, featuring talks from 5 researchers:

  • Assessing Avatar Design Choices and Perceptions for Social Virtual Reality Applications - Lauren Buck, TCD
  • The Effects of Latency and Jitter on User Experience - Goksu Yamac, TCD
  • From virtual to reality: physiological, cognitive and motor effects of the virtual embodiment - Dalila Burin, TCD
  • Sounding Realities in UX: A Dual Approach to Audio and Approximation for improved UX in Mixed Reality - Brian Vaughan, TU Dublin
  • Cognition and detection of fictionality in extended reality - Kata Szita, TCD

The next in the series will take place in Trinity College Dublin on 21st February under the theme "XR for Creative Practice".
