Dr Brian Keegan

Head of School

Dr. Brian Keegan (PhD, IEEE Senior Member) is the Head of the School of Computer Science at TU Dublin. With over 20 years of experience in higher education and the technology sector (Cisco and Sun Microsystems), Brian provides strategic direction and operational management for the School’s diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programs. His leadership focuses on aligning academic excellence with TU Dublin's strategic mission, fostering a culture of research innovation, inclusivity, and ensuring robust quality assurance standards.

Brian is a leading academic and researcher specialising in IoT and network optimisation, security, and sustainable IT solutions. He is an active member of the Informatics Europe Green ICT Working Group and serves on the TU Dublin Faculty Sustainability Committee. Brian also holds significant international roles as a Vice Chair, Rapporteur, and Expert Evaluator for the European Commission’s Horizon Europe and Pathfinder programs. His work is dedicated to bridging the gap between cutting-edge technical research and practical, industry-aligned education.
