Emma is an assistant lecturer in Digital Construction and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Technologists. She contributes to the MSc in Applied BIM Management, the BSc in Digital Construction, and the Postgraduate Certificate in Digital Construction Analytics/Engineering Analytics. Since 2018, she has been lecturing in the MSc in Applied BIM and Management Programme. Previously, she was a part-time lecturer at Middlesex University for the BIM Management Master’s Programme.
Emma was Managing Director of Digital Built Consultants, a Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Construction consultancy which she launched in 2018. She has over 27 years’ experience in the AEC industry in Ireland and internationally. She is a Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Technology from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Bolton Street and a Master’s Degree in BIM Management from Middlesex University.
She is also involved in driving progress in BIM adoption in the AEC industry. She is a non-executive director on the board of the Construction IT Alliance and the chair of the SME advisory group to the Irish Government Construction Sector Group for Innovation & Digital Adoption. She is on the Judging Panel for the Irish Construction Excellence Awards and an Industry member of ‘Leadership and Cultural Change’ pillar of the Build Digital Project. She has presented research papers at international conferences such as the CitA BIM Gathering and the International Congress of Architectural Technology.
She mentors and supports the development of women’s careers in BIM through her role as the Irish Lead for the Women in BIM (WiB) network.
