A graduate of Trinity College Dublin (BA (Mod.) in Geography) and NUI Maynooth (MA First Class Honours in Geography), Patrick is Assistant Lecturer in the School of Surveying and Construction Innovation and teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.  
Patrick has an extensive background in teaching and research as a policy analyst in the arena of urban geography, town planning, urban land use and housing in particular. Patrick is also the author/co-author of a range of peer-reviewed academic publications and State agency funded reports, including the major European Union GEMACA II Project that investigated the economic competitiveness of the the Greater Dublin Area within the wider framework of the key urban metropolitan areas in North West Europe, including London, Paris and the Rhine-Ruhr area in Germany.

In addition, Patrick has carried out extensive research on many aspects of the Irish housing system which are detailed in a number of key research reports including the longstanding shortfall in adequate housing supply in the Greater Dublin Area that has impeded economic competitiveness of the region in addition to the serious social implications of housing insecurity and homelessness.
Patrick’s teaching experience includes many years lecturing in Housing, Urban Land Development and Urban Geography to undergraduate Level 8 degree students on the Society of Chartered Surveyors Property Studies (part-time) degree programme, TUD Bolton Street Property Economics degree course and as guest lecturer at Dublin City University and University College Dublin and approved housing bodies as part of their staff training and education programmes.

Patrick also has extensive experience and expertise in supervising undergraduate dissertations from proposal stage through to submissions, reading and examining submitted dissertations and interviewing dissertation candidates as part of his role as supervisor.

In his current role as Assistant Lecturer in the School of Surveying and Construction Innovation at TUD Bolton St., Patrick has been involved in delivering a number of academic programmes and modules at both Level 8 and Level 9 HFQ, including delivering the Housing Policy module and the on the MSc in Real Estate programme, co-facilitating the RECE 3107 Property Economics Degree part-time Year 4 integrated group projects, supervising MSc in Real Estate and Year 4 PED dissertation students, teaching Land Use Economics for the AVEA programme Year 3 and delivering both the RECE9040 Integrated Project and RECE 9043 Research Themes modules for the MSc in Real Estate programme. 

Patrick has a strong personal interest in astronomy, swimming, tennis, art and creative writing in addition to his academic duties.
