Embedding Sustainability: Students & Staff in Action

Published: 20 Nov, 2023

On Monday, 11 December 2023, between 12 and 2 (with prize giving at 1.30), the ESSSIA project (Embedding Sustainability: Students & Staff in Action) will have an exhibition in the reception area of Central Quad. The objective of this SATLE-funded project is to embed sustainability and empower School of Tourism and Hospitality Management students to take action to explore and address sustainability in the context of tourism and events.

The display will include posters from various modules across Events and Tourism programmes in the school showing analysis of issues such as the role of sustainability in the marketing of tourist attractions that were visited as part of a field trip, the development of tours for tourists who want to maximise their social impact and adhere to their sustainability principles and global values, and an exploration of how events can be used to highlight sustainability issues. In addition, a group of primary school children from a local school will also be visiting the school to engage in workshops around sustainability, tourism and events.
