Target Audience

The anti-racism and inclusive teaching environment workshop aims to develop lecturers’ ability to tackle racism in the classroom and create inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive. Participants are empowered with the skills to identify and correct previously unrecognized patterns which could negatively effect inclusion efforts. The workshop will explore how various dimensions of racism are producing unjust and inequitable outcomes for students and lecturers will be better equipped to become anti-racist educators.

Course content

  • Understand the four dimensions of racism (historical, structural, institutional and individual)
  • Develop competence and language to facilitate discussions about racism in the classroom
  • Understand how whiteness as a power relation functions
  • Learn how to be anti-racist educators
