Licence to Recruit-Interviewing Skills

Duration: One Day. 

Online course delivered as two 3 hour sessions (two mornings)

Who should attend:  Staff members who sit on TU Dublin Interview Boards for the selection of staff

 

This workshop will cover:

  • Setting the scene - how to plan the panel interview structure
  • The role of the Chair and that of other Board Members
  • Creating a positive interview experience for the candidate
  • The importance of clear and measurable criteria on the job description when shortlisting and interviewing
  • The analysis and application of job assessment and selection criteria
  • Identifying competency questions to test the competencies required within the job description
  • The use of marking schemes
  • Indicators of good and bad performance by candidates
  • The importance of note taking
  • Being aware of relevant and potential legislation, equality and discriminatory issues
  • Being aware of managing unconscious bias - i.e.
    • The tendency to over rely on the first impression the candidate makes
    • The temptation to pick a clone of either the board member or the previous holder of the position
  • Delivering post interview feedback

 

Those who successfully complete this Training Course will be awarded the Licence to Recruit at TU Dublin.
