Non Violent Communication Workshop

 Facilitator: Olivia Edge

NVC is founded on language and communication skills that strengthen our ability to remain human, even under trying conditions (Rosenberg, 2015).

Workshop Description

NVC helps us to connect with each other and ourselves in a compassionate way. It guides us to reframe the ways we express ourselves and hear others. NVC aims to replace our patterns of defending, withdrawing, or attacking in the face of judgment and criticism and replaces them with conscious responses based on awareness of what we are perceiving, feeling and wanting.

This workshop will teach you to express yourself honestly and clearly, while simultaneously paying others respectful and empathic attention. Some people use NVC to respond compassionately to themselves, some to create greater depth and caring in their personal relationships, while others use it to build effective relationships at work.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Observe others and specify the behaviours and conditions that are affecting you.
  • Clarify what is being observed, felt and needed rather than diagnosing and judging.
  • Identify and articulate what you want in any given situation.
  • Empathically receive information from others.
