Anti-Racism Training from a Traveller and a Roma Perspective

Delivered by: The training will be delivered by the Education Officer from Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre, together with Annmarie McDonagh from the TU Dublin Access and Outreach office.

The aim of the training to develop a stronger understanding of anti-Traveller and anti-Roma racism as a structural and institutional issue, and to explore what inclusive, culturally responsive practice looks like across the higher education setting. The session covers Traveller and Roma culture, identity and history, the nature and impact of racism at individual, organisational and systemic levels, and the barriers Travellers and Roma face in accessing and participating in higher education. It draws on national data and policy frameworks including the National Action Plan Against Racism, the National Access Plan and PATH Strand 5, and includes space for reflection on how staff can contribute to building a sense of belonging for Traveller and Roma students.

The training is designed for all staff, including academic, professional services and student-facing roles.
