Mentoring

On behalf of the Staff Developers’ Network (SDN), we are delighted to highlight the SDN Mentoring Programme. The programme is a cross sectoral initiative between the following partners: 

 

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) 

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) 

Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) 

Munster Technological University (MTU)

South East Technological University (SETU) 

Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin)

Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) 

It is being rolled out in direct response to requests from across the sector over the last number of years. This initiative is open to all members of our staff community and aims to facilitate personal and professional development of staff who wish to become Mentors or those who wish to be Mentored (Mentees). The Online Platform 

The SDN has engaged the services of Perform, Learn, Develop (PLD) Ltd, an online mentoring platform provider widely recognised in this field. Link to the platform is here PLD’s Mentoring software provides a dedicated e-mentoring platform with the following key features: 

• Secure confidential platform where all data is protected in line with GDPR and Data Protection principles. 
• Mentoring portal with matching capabilities to facilitate the mentoring process 
• Online mentoring guides and tutorials.  
• Additional e-learning materials to support career development and employability 
• Electronic collaboration tools to support the mentor and mentee’s mentoring engagement. 

Who Can Take Part? 

The programme is open to all staff and there are no criteria for getting involved as either a Mentor or Mentee, other than you wish to engage in the process. 

The Application Process 

To engage in the Mentoring programme as either a Mentor or Mentee, you will first need to complete the PLD online application form. The application form gathers basic data in order to determine the best possible match. 

The emphasis is placed on the similarity of the Mentor’s expertise and experience with those requested by the Mentee. The platform will pair Mentees with Mentors from across the institutes, depending on the information provided on the application form. Link to the platform is here
