Myer Briggs Personality Indicator

Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator

Trainer: Jill Barrett, Career Coach, Career Development Centre, TU Dublin

By defining personality type, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment builds a robust foundation for lifelong personal development. It provides a constructive, flexible, and liberating framework for understanding individual differences and strengths. The MBTI is based on Carl Jung's theories of type, to which an extra dimension was added, giving us the indicator we have today. This is the framework on which we will base the workshop. The only caveat is we will use a tool called the Type Dynamics Indicator ® (TDI®) instead of the MBTI profiler to prepare for the workshop as in TU Dublin the TDI is what we hold a licence for.

The workshop will explore four main dimensions of type:

(i) Where you get your energy from/how you like to interact with the world around you.

(ii) How you process information

(iii) What basis you use to make your decisions

(iv) How you like to organise and structure your life (or not..!),

What is it not, & ethics: It's not about putting you 'in a box' or you leaving the workshop with your 'type' stamped on your forehead. It's not to be used to label others. It's completely self-determined. Only you can decide what type you are, if any, and only you decide what you want to share with others.

Participants are required to complete a short pre-workshop questionnaire - this is called the self-reported type
