Raising Awareness about Traveller and Roma Culture

The aim of the training is to raise awareness of the barriers including discrimination and racism to Travellers and Roma accessing education and employment in Higher Education and possible ways to address this. It covers common stereotypes/ microagressions faced, the impact of racism and any tips for supporting access (for academic and admin staff who deal with students) and how to support colleagues who are Traveller or Roma in the workplace by their managers and fellow team members. With a focus on how to understand and respect Traveller and Roma cultural practices to facilitate effective communication and engagement in both the workplace and classroom.
