The Artist's Way - 12 Week Programme
Facilitator: Anima Ganguly
Audience: Open to TU Dublin staff only
Duration: 12 weeks
Workshop Delivery: Fortnightly Online Group Facilitation of Artist's Way.
The Artist’s Way is a seminal text for creative unblocking and was published in 1992 by Julia Cameron. The Artist Way is the start of a journey to discover and care for your creative self. Julia Cameron, believes creativity is a spiritual path, a way of tuning in and listening to yourself and as we create and allow ourselves to be creative, we become more and more ourselves. The aim is to create a collaborative and supportive group where we are all involved in the process of supporting and encouraging each other’s creativity and wellbeing.
Over 12 weeks, we look at gradually discovering what blocks us from living a creative and joyful life and start taking steps towards treating ourselves as wonderful, creative and inspired beings. All participants need is a copy of the Artist Way book, pen/paper and a willingness to give it a try. Every week you are asked to do daily morning pages, two of the weekly tasks and one artist date. Morning pages are 3 pages of stream of consciousness writing- to clear the sludge from your brain - handwritten and ideally done at the start of your day. You just write the thoughts as they pass through your head without censoring them.
The Artist Date is a once-weekly, festive, solo expedition to explore something that interests you. The Artist Date need not be overtly “artistic”– think fun more than effort. Artist Dates fire up the imagination and they encourage play.
