Nature Connections Photo Story Exhibition

Nature Connections Photo Exhibition open for submissions

Nature is an essential part of our life, often invisible but always supporting us, the air we breathe and the food we eat and even our mental health. Unfortunately our busy lives have had a huge impact on nature with many habitats, plants and animal species in Ireland are currently listed as under pressure and in decline . We are working towards setting up the TU Dublin campuses as havens for nature. This will involve a number of actions including joining the All Ireland Pollinator Plan and we are planning a series of events to celebrate National Biodiversity Week in May and raising the profile of the environments that surround us.

Photo Exhibition

One of these events will be an exhibition of photos of the biodiversity around us taken on campus and close to where we live coupled with stories from our childhood and our memories of nature that are linked to that image and its importance to us.

Submissions

We are inviting the application of a good quality photo that has been taken by a student or member of staff using a camera or a mobile phone, the photo can be of any native plant, animal, invertebrate (insects, soil life or aquatic), bird or aquatic species. It should not be doctored with AI or any photo editing software. It should be accompanied by a short story (maximum of 150 words) that describes the memories sparked by that image, the story should indicate how important nature is to you. If you wish your story and image to be anonymous in the exhibition please let us know when you send it to us. We will be selecting the best submissions to exhibit in the TU Dublin library on the Tallaght campus as part of National Biodiversity Week May 2026.

The deadline for entries is Midnight Friday 24th April 2026.

Submissions can be sent to either gerard.ryder@tudublin.ie or Linda.bennett@tudublin.ie and the subject should be "Nature Connections" Entry and include your full name.

Good luck and we look forward to your entries

Gerry Ryder and Linda Bennett, Tallaght Campus.

This exhibition is being organised as part of the Bioblitz project funded under the Green-Campus Open Call 2025

We are also planning a Bioblitz which will combine a biodiversity survey and a scavenger hunt, more details to follow.
