Library collections:
Our print and online collections have been expertly curated to support your learning and research. You have access to a wealth of material in all five of our libraries, such as books, ebooks, academic journals, music scores, CDs/DVDs, special collections, library databases, reports, and so much more.
- You can search and access resources in the online library from anywhere 24/7 using your TU Dublin email address and password.
- Can’t find an item on your reading list? Ask Library staff at the desks or contact your home library.

Our collection of library guides provides practical support and advice on everything from finding relevant information resources, evaluating information, critical thinking, academic integrity and referencing, subject guides, and more.
Library classes and workshops:
Library staff offer a range of student classes, tutorials, and workshops to help you develop essential skills to achieve academic success. Learn how to navigate our collections, search, evaluate, and reference information for assignments, find information for literature reviews, and more. Classes can be delivered face-to-face, online via MS Teams, or can be pre-recorded. See the sections below for more information.
Library tours:
Want to know what facilities, study spaces, and print collections are available to you? Library tours are available for class groups and smaller groups. Ask library staff at the desks or contact your home library for more information.
One-to-one consultations:
Struggling to find and access resources for your assignment or dissertation? Struggling with how to reference a resource? Your Faculty Liaison Librarians provide one-to-one consultations to support students with finding reliable information for their assignments and research. See below to learn how to book a one-to-one consultation.
Ask a Librarian:
Your Faculty Liaison Librarian will help you learn how to find the resources you need to complete your assignments and dissertation research. Whether it’s a quick question or a more in-depth query you can ask for help at the library desks, email or phone.
Online guides and tutorials are also available to help you navigate what’s available.
Subject Guides:
Subject guides help you navigate the resources relevant to the subject you are studying by presenting a smaller, more focused list of information sources.

Online tutorials:
Our set of video tutorials will help you navigate the different collections and resources available to you. Learn how to understand, find, and access resources on your reading lists and for your assignments and dissertations.

Our eResources guide provides guidance on how to access eResources, terms of use, information on new eResources added to library collections, and the online tools available to enhance your discovery of eResources.
You will be expected to demonstrate academic integrity when completing your assignments and dissertations. For more information on academic integrity, visit Academic Integrity.
One part of academic integrity is learning how to use resources responsibly in your assignments and dissertation. Referencing helps you do this. To learn more about referencing and how to use the different referencing styles, visit the Using Resources Responsibly guide.
You can ask library staff at the desks, contact your home library, or your Faculty Liaison Librarian if you need help at any stage understanding how to use a particular referencing style or how to cite and reference a particular resource in your assignment or dissertation.
You can contact your Faculty Liaison Librarian to book a one-to-one consultation. They will provide advice and guidance on how to find and access academic resources for your assignments.
- One-to-one consultations can be booked at any time throughout the academic year.
- Small groups can also be accommodated.
- Your Faculty Liaison Librarian can meet you in person or online via MS Teams or other online platforms.
How to book a one-to-one consultation:
- Ask staff at the library desks to book a one-to-one consultation with your Faculty Liaison Librarian
- Email your home library or your Faculty Liaison Librarian to book a one-to-one consultation
Librarians provide workshops throughout the semester to help you find information and resources for your assignments, teach you how to get better at searching, and show you how to evaluate and reference resources responsibly.
Your lecturer can book a workshop for your class. You or your class rep can also contact the library to ask about booking a workshop for either your class or a small group.
Workshops can be delivered in person or online via MS Teams.

- The Academic Writing & Learning Centre provides a free and friendly support service to help you develop as an independent, confident writer in an academic setting.
- The Maths Learning Centre provides a free and friendly support service to help you develop your maths. Whether you’re struggling or getting along ok but could be doing better.
- The Computer Learning Centre provides a free and friendly support service to students studying on the early years of a Computing programme, or taking a Computing module, or using some aspect of Computing in one of your modules (regardless of your campus or programme).
- The Career Development Centre provides a free and friendly service to assist you in preparing for important career decisions and how to incorporate careers education into your academic journey.
- The Disability Support Services aims to ensure that any student with a disability does not experience an educational disadvantage and that all students can access and equally participate in and benefit from educational opportunities in our University. The Disability Support Service provide confidential one-to-one needs assessments to all students registered with the service. The relevant supports are then put in place based on the recommendations of these needs assessments. The Disability Support Service also aids students in their adjustment to third-level education all of which complements the many student support services available to TU Dublin students.
