Facilities
Structural testing:
-200kNhydraulic ram & testing rig
The ram has a maximum loading capacity of 200kNand is housed in a testing rig 4m wide and 2m or 3m high depending on whether the additional steel section is fitted.
The test rig is used for undergraduate and postgraduate research as well as commercial testing for private companies can perform static and cyclical loading tests.

-300kNhydraulic ram and test rig
This ram has a maximum loading capacity of 300kNand is housed in a testing rig 2.5mwide and 1.675mhigh. The unit uses interchangeable loads cells and so can also accommodate tests at low loads, e.g. 50kN

High Speed Data Acquisition System
Both testing rigs use Strain Smart software in order to record testing results. The software can address virtually any variable that must be considered in stress analysis testing and will accept inputs from a range of sensors such strain gauges, load cells, accelerometers, deflection gauges and thermocouples
