Dr. Damon Berry is a lecturer at the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at TU Dublin and the Centre Director of the TU Dublin based tPOT Research Centre
Dr. Berry has contributed to the field of health informatics and smart healthy spaces. His research has involved developments in health knowledge representation that has contributed to an ehealth ISO standard. He has also worked on the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to enhance healthy independent living and create accessible and sustainable public spaces. As a funded investigator in Research Ireland ADVANCE and d-real CRTs and the ADAPT Centre, Dr. Berry has advanced the understanding and implementation of smart age-friendly environments, ehealth and Earth Science informatics.
Dr. Berry is a founding member a former chair of TC21, the NSAI Irish mirror panel for ISO TC215 Health Informatics and has been involved in several Framework projects that led to ehealth standards. His work in smart healthy age-friendly environments has led to workpagage leader in European projects EU-SHAFE and Hands-on SHAFE. These projects aim to develop policies and improve digital skills to support age-friendly environments, directly impacting societal well-being.
