Dr Keith Murphy is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Social Sciences, Law and Education at Technological University Dublin. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from Maynooth University and specialises in neurodiversity, dyslexia, inclusive education, and social inclusion in higher education. His research focuses on the lived experiences of students with dyslexia and other neurodiverse differences, exploring how educational systems can become more inclusive and equitable.
Keith has used his personal and professional experiences to raise awareness of accessibility and inclusion in education through research, public speaking, television appearances, newspaper interviews, and media engagement. He has contributed to national conversations on dyslexia through interviews and features discussing the realities of living with dyslexia and challenging common misconceptions surrounding the condition. He has appeared on Ireland AM on Virgin Media One alongside his daughter Riley Murphy to discuss living and studying with dyslexia. He also featured prominently in the Lost for Words documentary broadcast on RTÉ, which explored the lived experiences of people with dyslexia across Ireland. In addition to contributing research expertise to the production, he appeared as one of the documentary’s central contributors, helping to dispel myths and increase public understanding of dyslexia.
His work and advocacy have earned recognition including the MAP Alumni Achievement Award from Maynooth University and a TU Dublin Research and Innovation Award for Community Engaged Research.
