Historian

I am employed as College Historian in Clongowes Wood College. At the moment I am doing research on the past pupils. This will be published as an aid to future researchers.

I did my PhD research under the supervision of Dr Eamon Maher on the extent to which Jesuit publications traced and analysed cultural, political and literary evolutions in Ireland during a time of rapid change, namely the end of the nineteenth century until early in the twentieth.

This thesis was both original and groundbreaking and filled a considerable gap in historical knowledge. While the constituent journals are known to scholars, they have neither yet been systematically examined as an organic whole nor been connected in a manner that displays the

very significant contribution of the Society of Jesus to the cultural and intellectual life of Ireland

over this period.
