Javier Torres-Fernández holds a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences (Language and Literary Studies) by the University of Almería, where he is currently working as a Lecturer in the Department of Philology. He is also a member of the Research Group “Women, Literature and Society” (HUM-874) and the Research Center “Communication and Society” (CySOC). Internationally, he is an External Board Member of the TU Dublin Centre for Irish Studies. He received predoctoral and postdoctoral funding (FPU21/01232) to conduct his doctoral dissertation and to continue researching after the successful completion of his PhD. Torres-Fernández has presented papers at more than thirty international and national conferences. His recent publications include articles in prestigious international journals, such as Irish University Review and Estudios Irlandeses, as well as book chapters in edited volumes published by equally renowned publishers, including Peter Lang, Brill, Routledge, and Palgrave, among others. In addition, he is part of the research project “TRANS-FORMATIONS: Queer practices of Use and Embodiment in post 9/11 Narratives in English” (PID2023-146450NB-I00), funded by the Ministry of Universities, the European Union and the State Research Agency. He actively collaborates with the PopMeC Association for US Popular Culture Studies as treasurer and the Spanish Association for American Studies Young Scholars as Workshops Coordinator. He is also involved in the editorial team of academic journals such as RAUDEM, REDEN, and JOFIS. His monograph, Narratives and Metaphors of HIV/AIDS in Contemporary Irish Theatre and Performance, is forthcoming as part of the Reimagining Ireland series with Peter Lang and as Winner in English of the 2025 Peter Lang Emerging Scholars Competition in Queer Studies.
