Multidisciplinary Research Team

Description

The Multidisciplinary Research Team Award recognises a research team that has potential to or has achieved exceptional outcomes through collaborative and multidisciplinary efforts or a team who have completed a research project which could not have been conducted without a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach. Significant milestones of the research project/initiative should have been completed in the last 5 years.

Eligibility

The award is open to a research team comprising three or more researchers from different research disciplines. At least two of the team members should be staff of TU Dubin, and external collaborators can be national or international. The team members should have clearly defined and complimentary roles.

Nomination & Application Process

Nominations should come from two TU Dublin staff members on a single form.

The team nominated will be asked for additional information after the closing date, to support the evaluation of the application, should they wish to provide it. Self-nomination is not acceptable.

Evaluation Criteria

The award recognises teams that not only excel in their research but also demonstrate research excellence, collaboration and impact through multidisciplinary efforts. Criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • Team Composition –the team integrates researchers from different disciplines with expertise to solve a research problem that could only be solved by a team from different disciplines; diverse perspectives included either from within TU Dublin or from external collaborators, who can be academic or non-academic;
  • Team Research Excellence – evidenced by tangible outputs and outcomes, with engagement activities hosted, for example lectures or seminars, workshops, outreach events, showcases, performances, exhibitions etc.;
  • Evidence of impact (academic or societal) - such as influencing education delivery, policy, business or industry practices; social or cultural benefit.

Evaluation Process

The applications will be evaluated by an internal panel who will submit their recommendations for the top 5 scoring applications to the Awards Decision Board, which will be chaired by the Vice President for Research & Innovation.
