The programme is a 1-year part-time programme split into two semesters leading to a Postgraduate Certificate in Construction Project Management. The student will complete 30 ECTS, this will be split into 15 ECTS per semester.

The overall goal of the programme is to produce a highly educated, technically competent and marketable graduate who can make a significant contribution in this challenging and developing area. The programme aims to provide a high-quality learning experience and outcome for enthusiastic and motivated learners from a diverse range of discipline areas. The programme will build on the intellectual formation achieved in previous professional and academic studies to develop independent thinking, flexibility and adaptability, ability to solve problems as well as competencies in a broad range of functional areas.

The programme has been designed specifically to develop a combination of technical competence and business acumen. Leadership skills, motivational/soft skills and risk management expertise are tools commonly considered essential to be an effective project manager. The programme has been designed specifically to address these issues and will provide graduates with a thorough grounding in the scheduling, financial control and the technical delivery of construction projects while also ensuring the highest health and safety standards.

An NFQ Level 8 Bachelor Degree with 2.2 award or equivalent in an engineering, built environment or related programme, or a level 7 ordinary degree plus 5 years relevant experience.

English Language Requirements

Applicants are required to produce evidence of the minimum English language proficiency requirement for overseas applicants i.e. a minimum score of 6.0 in IELTS or equivalent.

Two evenings per week for 4 hours. Runs typically as follows: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 18:00-21:00 with additional asynchronous directed and self-directed learning outside of these times.
