Your First Step Into University Life

Are you a Transition Year student curious about college life, future careers, or new skills? TU Dublin invites you to explore our exciting TY programmes.

Designed especially for curious, creative, and ambitious students like you, these experiences give you a taste of university learning while helping you uncover your passions. Whether you're into science, art, technology, or entrepreneurship – there's something here for you. Participants in our TY Programmes will experience:

TY programmes run throughout the academic year. Spaces are limited – so check our upcoming dates, talk to your TY Coordinator, and apply early. All events will be booked online and you can sign up via registration forms, which will be made available below, throughout the year.

Informatics-4-all Summer Camp

The School of Informatics & Cybersecurity at TU Dublin Blanchardstown will be running a free Informatics-4-All one-day summer camp, open to all second-level students. This summer camp aims to inspire the next generation of problem solvers who will use digital tools and technologies to make our world a better place for everyone.

Coding4Girls

One-day camp open to female students at 2nd level. The camp aims to inspire secondary school girls to explore the exciting world of Technology and Engineering and to promote gender diversity in the STEM field.

TY Bakery Challenge 

The goal of the bakery challenge is to give local Transition Year (TY) students from Dublin North Inner-City a chance to see what it's like to study at college. They take part in a fun and creative baking session with college lecturers, who run a hands-on baking and pastry class. The challenge is designed to suit the students' skill levels.

TY Placements - School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology 

The school facilitates TY Placements and will involve attending practical classes along with our current students during the academic year.  Students will experience classes in our Kitchen, Pastry Labs and Training Restaurants.

Creative Culinary Arts Summer Academy

A week-long camp which focuses on exploring food innovation through culinary arts, using a health and wellness approach to eating and cooking.  It introduces the students to the professional kitchen, gives them an understanding of flavour and nutrition, application of healthy cooking techniques as a backdrop to design a team-based health-focused café concept and testing a pop-up café.

TU Dublin "Engineering Your Future"

A full week of activities for Transition Year students spread across all TU Dublin campuses. This is part of the "Engineering Your Future" initiative coordinated by Engineers Ireland.

School of Architecture, Building and Environment Transition Year Programme

TY students interested in a career in the Built Environment with a focus on Architecture, Architectural Technology, Spatial Planning and Environmental Management.
