The Collaborative Talent Development Community of Practice webinar, Enterprise Faculty: Connecting Industry with TU Dublin Academics & Students took place online on May 28th, 2025, from 14:00pm – 15:00pm.
Enterprise Faculty connects industry experts and organisations with TU Dublin academic teams to enhance programme design, authentic assessment and student learning with real-world professional experiences through engagements like guest lectures, masterclasses, panel discussions, enterprise challenges, professional projects, competition sponsorship, site visits, advisory boards, programme development, and quality assurance processes.
At this Community of Practice event, we showcased successful case studies from across the university, and we also highlighted new opportunities and ways for academic teams to bring enterprise collaborators into their teaching and learning activities for the upcoming academic year.
- Niamh O’Hora - Educational Developer, Enterprise Academy, highlighted new opportunities and ways for academic teams to bring enterprise collaborators into their teaching and learning activities for the upcoming academic year.
- Derek Collins, Director of Research Collaboration & Innovation at Huawei's European Research Institute, discussed how industry-led projects are nurturing a pipeline of young, innovative thinkers.
- Dr. Ciarán O'Carroll, Lecturer in Enterprise & Sustainability at TU Dublin, shared insights on challenge-based learning to tackle real-world problems - focusing on the urgent issue of sustainable energy.
- Peter Lynch, Senior Engagement Manager for the ICT/Fintech Sector at TU Dublin's Enterprise Academy, highlighted how guest lecturing is helping academics bring industry expertise to the new Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Analytics, Technology and Innovation, and how it benefits both learners and lecturers.
We also showcased new opportunities and ways for academic teams to bring enterprise collaborators into their teaching and learning activities for the upcoming academic year.
The aim of our Community of Practice is to amplify the enterprise voice at TU Dublin through genuine member-led engagement. Our community offers a unique space for both faculty and enterprise representatives to jointly enhance university-enterprise engagement by sharing successful practices, emphasising crucial University-Enterprise engagement drivers, and addressing specific challenges.
About TU Dublin Enterprise Academy
The Enterprise Academy is a multidisciplinary business unit adopting an innovative approach to Collaborative Talent Development for workplace learners, while also facilitating connections with on-campus learners. Launched in November 2022, it is designed to support Irish-based enterprises in their talent development and skills strategies.
The Enterprise Academy at TU Dublin aims to build and grow active partnerships across academia, industry, community and society, to create value and impact for the TU Dublin community and wider society. As such, it will support the University in achieving its aim to increase active partnerships by 10% and to grow diversified income to 30% of total income by 2028.
