Workday Design Thinking Enterprise Challenge 2025

How might Workday lead the AI-led evolution of Future of Work by leveraging a partnership ecosystem?

In an exciting collaboration with TU Dublin Graduate Business School five multidisciplinary teams from Workday took part in the Design Thinking Enterprise Challenge, tackling key customer problems in the AI-driven future of work.

The teams focused on:

Using Design Thinking principles, the teams researched customer insights, developed prototypes, and evaluated potential solutions. The challenge culminated in pitch presentations to Richa Pathak, Director of Product Management at Workday; Dr. Claire Mc Bride, Head of the Enterprise Academy at TU Dublin; and Dr. Dr. Colin Hughes, Head of Graduate Business School at TU Dublin.

The winning team’s solution demonstrated creativity, feasibility, and alignment with Workday’s strategic goals in the AI-driven future of work. Congratulations to all participants for their impressive achievements!

The assignment presents an opportunity for participants to shape the future of work by tackling the Workday challenge over two immersive days. Working in multidisciplinary teams, participants will develop innovation solutions to the challenges presented, culminating in a pitch presentation to peers, mentors, and Workday representatives. This assignment aims to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and develop actionable solutions to critical challenges in the landscape of work.

The Challenge

The rapid advancement of AI has generated significant concerns about its impact on the workforce, job automation and potential unemployment. However, AI also offers transformative opportunities, empowering individuals and organisations to achieve new levels of productivity and creativity. According to the Workday Artificial Intelligence Report: Elevating Human Potential: The AI Skills Revolution, professionals familiar with AI express optimism about its future applications. This optimism underpins the potential for AI to accelerate innovation.

Assessment

Participants will assess on their presentation pitch that effectively communicates the team’s idea or solution. The pitch should cater to a diverse audience, including Workday colleagues, academic supervisors, customers, and potential investors and a digital report.

 

Enterprise Challenges at TU Dubin

The Enterprise Challenge is a 5 ECTS elective module that offers multi-disciplinary student teams a hands-on learning experience that bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills. The module fosters essential transversal skills highly sought after by employers, such as analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, teamwork, communication and adaptability.
