Global Doughnut Days 2026 at TU Dublin
Join TU Dublin, Dublin South City Partnership (DSCP) and Green Foundation Ireland for an evening of film, discussion and community action as part of Global Doughnut Days 2026.
TU Dublin is delighted to collaborate with DSCP and Green Foundation Ireland to host a special screening of The Cost of Growth, a thought-provoking documentary that explores the hidden social and environmental impacts of our current economic system. The event forms part of Global Doughnut Days, a five-day, community-led festival taking place online and in person around the world. Inspired by the principles of Doughnut Economics, the festival brings people together to explore how societies can meet everyone's needs while respecting the ecological limits of the planet.

Exploring the Cost of Growth
The Cost of Growth challenges Europe's prevailing growth narrative by exposing the extractive systems that underpin it and the communities that bear the consequences. Through stories from Serbia, Italy and Sápmi, the documentary highlights the impacts of resource extraction and examines how communities are organising, building solidarity and imagining alternative futures. It offers a powerful insight into the connections between environmental sustainability, social justice and economic wellbeing. Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a facilitated conversation and audience Q&A session with guest contributors.
Step into the Doughnut
Before the screening, participants are invited to take part in an optional interactive activity, Step into the Doughnut. This engaging session introduces the concept of Doughnut Economics and encourages participants to reflect on what it means to live within a "safe and just space" for humanity, where everyone's needs can be met without exceeding planetary boundaries. Whether you are new to Doughnut Economics or already familiar with the concept, this activity provides a fun and accessible way to explore sustainable futures together.
