Step Up for the Planet – Be Part of the Green-Campus Climate Challenge 2025
Are you ready to take action for climate change in a fun and impactful way?
The climate crisis is a systemic challenge facing us all - and it can often feel like the solutions are beyond our individual control. But when we act together, we multiply our impact and shine a light on what’s possible - and where change is needed to make sustainable choices easier for everyone.
That’s the spirit of the Green-Campus Climate Challenge 2025, a collaboration between TU Dublin and Global Action Plan (GAP) as part of TU Dublin's Green-Campus Open Call. This campus-wide challenge isn’t just about reducing carbon footprints - it’s about discovering, as a community, which climate actions work well in our daily lives, and which are harder to take because of systemic barriers.
How does the challenge work?
- The Challenge will run for two weeks from November 11 - 25, 2025.
- Using an innovative gamified tool, students and staff will be able to track their everyday actions, see their collective impact in real time, and generate valuable insights into the opportunities and obstacles for sustainable living on campus.
- The challenge is also about connection and collaboration. Teams drawn from classes, societies, programmes or schools can compete, support each other, and celebrate successes - showing how grassroots action can build momentum and spark wider change.
- Prizes will be awarded for the winners - including a prize of a table at our Scholars training restaurant.

Speaking about the collaboration, GAP CEO Hans Zomer said:
“The climate crisis can feel overwhelming, but the Green-Campus Climate Challenge 2025 is a powerful way to show how small, local actions can add up to big changes. By taking part in the Challenge, TU Dublin students and staff can discover the power of informed climate action. And they can increase the impact of their actions exponentially, beginning a virtuous cycle of environmentally aware citizens inspiring each other. The Green-Campus Climate Challenge is an opportunity to discover the power that each of us has to make a change.”
Asfand Bakht Yar, Co-Chair (staff), TU Dublin Green-Campus Committee said:
“As a university community, we have a responsibility not only to learn about sustainability but to actively live it. The Green-Campus Climate Challenge 2025 is a unique opportunity for every student and staff member to turn awareness into action. By coming together, we can see the tangible impact of our choices, inspire each other, and push for the systemic changes needed to make sustainable living the norm at TU Dublin. This challenge is about collective momentum – proving that when we act together, even the smallest steps add up to something transformative.”
By joining the Challenge, you’ll be part of a movement that goes beyond individual behaviour change. Together, we’ll explore how personal choices connect to wider systems and gather insights that can help shape TU Dublin’s sustainability journey into the future.
🌱 So why wait? Gather a team, join the movement, and let’s discover what’s possible when we act together for a greener future.
