New Leadership for Green-Campus Network
The Green-Campus Network at TU Dublin is a collaborative initiative involving students and staff across all five campus locations — Aungier Street, Blanchardstown, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, and Tallaght. The network focuses on advancing environmental action projects, supporting environmental education, and fostering a culture of sustainability within the University community.
The newly appointed co-chairs will play a pivotal role in leading the network’s activities, including coordinating events, engaging our people in pro-environmental behaviour, and capturing data for the An Taisce Green-Campus application for the Green Flag. Ariele and Asfand will also join the University Sustainability Council to help connect the ambitions and actions of the Green-Campus programme in a visible and transparent manner.
Their leadership is expected to drive the University’s efforts towards renewing its Green Flag award by the end of 2026, focusing on the Green-Campus major themes of Transport and Travel, and Biodiversity, while maintaining previous achievements in Litter and Waste, and Energy as minor themes.
Acknowledging Outgoing Leadership
TU Dublin extends its gratitude to the outgoing Green-Campus Co-Chair, Sarah Maher, who held the position since 2022. Under her leadership, the University successfully received the An Taisce Green Flag for all five campus locations in 2023, marking a significant milestone in TU Dublin’s sustainability journey.
Speaking about the Green-Campus Network and the new roles, Head of Societal Engagement Helena Fitzgerald said:
The Green-Campus Network is vital to TU Dublin's commitment to sustainability and transition towards Net-zero, as it creates a space for new solutions to emerge from within the TU Dublin community. I welcome Asfand and Ariele to these Green-Campus leadership roles and look forward to engaging with them.
