TU Dublin is Switching off for Summer 2026

Published: Thursday 28 May 2026 - 11:43

As the summer break approaches, TU Dublin is powering down with purpose. The University is urging all students and staff to switch off all appropriate devices and energy consuming equipment to ease pressure on the national grid and champion the Government’s ‘Reduce Your Use’ energy campaign. Before finishing up for the summer break, please look around your work or study area to see what can be safely switched off. It’s more than just saving energy—it’s a chance to unplug, recharge your mind, and support the planet.

Take Action

Please take the time to actively switch off any device or piece of equipment which does not need to be kept running. These actions can include:

*Be mindful for the potential for some freezers to defrost and leak, read more tips on cleaning out and turning off cold storage appliances.

Reduce your Use

With the help from students and staff, we aim to reduce our energy use across the summer months and continue this trend as we transition towards net zero. To learn more about TU Dublin's baseline and projected emissions read up on the latest iteration of the TU Dublin Climate Action Roadmap

Thanks to all involved at TU Dublin to #ReduceYourUse.
