TU Dublin launches Green Volunteering Group
Students with a passion for sustainability, climate action and environmental engagement are invited to help shape a new student-led initiative at TU Dublin.
As part of a new Student Network pilot programme for 2026/27, supported by TU Dublin Societies, Student Volunteering, and TU Dublin's Green Campus programme, the University is establishing the TU Dublin Green Volunteering Group, a network designed to bring together students from across all campuses who share an interest in creating positive environmental change.
The new Green Volunteering Group will provide opportunities for students to connect with peers, organise sustainability-focused activities and events, and contribute to a greener and more sustainable university community. The group will work in collaboration with the TU Dublin Green Campus Network and the An Taisce Climate Ambassadors Programme to support environmental initiatives and student engagement across the University.
Call for Student Leaders applications are now open for two key leadership positions within the network:
- Lead Representative - Lead Representatives will help shape the direction of the group, organise events and activities, promote opportunities to fellow students, and represent the network at relevant meetings and forums.
- Treasurer - Treasurers will support activity planning while overseeing funding, financial records and expenditure associated with the network's activities.
These roles will play a vital part in establishing the network and ensuring its success during its inaugural year. The successful applicants will work closely together, with support from TU Dublin staff, to develop activities, encourage student participation and build a vibrant sustainability community.
Leadership, community and skills development
The Green Volunteering Group forms part of TU Dublin's wider commitment to empowering students to take an active role in sustainability and civic engagement. The Student Network model provides a flexible alternative to traditional societies, making it easier for students to come together around shared interests, build communities and develop impactful projects. Students who take on leadership roles will receive training, staff support and opportunities for personal and professional development.
Network leaders will also gain valuable experience in project management, event organisation, teamwork, communication and student leadership while contributing to meaningful sustainability initiatives on campus.
Get Involved
The Green Volunteering Group is open to students from all TU Dublin campuses who are interested in sustainability, environmental action and community-building. Students interested in becoming a Lead Representative or Treasurer are encouraged to apply and briefly outline why they would like to take on the role. Training and support will be provided throughout the year.
